| Are you too young to remember the good ole days when Republicans
kept order with a willing Police Force under the control of stocky
pillar of society, J. Edgar Hoover? I believe it was this riot that
politicized Hunter Thompson, Abbie Hoffman, Rock'n'Roll and a whole
generation. America was innocent and pure then- naive even, and idealistic.
Before the days of City Trading, high finance, greed, avarice and
betrayal. Before Exxon and criminal campaigning, but after Kennedy.
I present this picture for the Editorial Page, and others in the
run up to the Presidential Election, to maybe help folks to exercise
their vote wisely, put their X in the right place and think decent.

He was nice but not THAT nice.
I met him once at the 1976 Kansas
City Convention when his running mate was a little known unknown
called Schweicker. The nicest thing about Schweicker was that
he was unknown completely and ever afterwards. They never made
it that time.
I was in the press room for Reagan's chatty hey guys
kind of chat. I must have had a Marihuana seed in my smoking
tin — didn't know it was there. I lit up(you could back then!)
and the seed sent its distinctive aroma around the room. Luckily,
there was only the one seed but the response was electric. I got
a body search but all they could find was my Golden Virginia tobacco
tin, and being English, I guess I just didn't look like the kind
of fellow who would get mixed in that kind of thing, which was
true. It was just lucky that there wasn't another seed anywhere
around my person.
