The Devil's Dictionary by Ambrose BIERCE-a new version by me
I have just completed an illustrated version of the above book by a great contemporary of Mark Twain. They were, in fact, friends in San Francisco. BIERCE was the more sardonic, wittier and uncomfortable of the two, and people feared his barbed scrutiny of life, mainly American society. He was not loved for it, but in retrospect, Americans can now see how accurate were his observations. He was WEIRRD!
His work has provoked WEIRRD drawings from me. It is due for publication in October/Fall by Bloomsbury Publishing UK and BloomsburyUSA. OK. Thought I should let you know
