Report in the Independent on Saturday 31 May, on water by Cahal Milmo, stated that the G8 goal is to halve the number of people without safe drinking water by 2015 and the £4bn figure will be held up as real progress on a problem that claims two million lives a year in deaths from water-related diseases
Do I detect an irony here of monumental importance? The obscene wealth of the G8 caucus of nations, needs to act NOW. They have all the money NOW to redress a shocking imbalance, one of many! and should cancel all future conferences. If they do not act now, they will halve the number of people without safe drinking water. They will die anyway, and the G8 wont have to spend a penny- except of course, on another futile conference.
