Ralph Steadman: A Retrospective Returns Home

25 November 2020 -

The Ralph Steadman Retrospective Exhibition has arrived home safely after the most exciting tour of the USA –
a tour which spanned 5 years, 6 venues, several states and many thousands of miles!

It was hugely disappointing that we couldn’t complete the tour, missing out on The Bates College Museum of Art and The Newark Museum of Art, but sadly COVID-19 had other ideas… and right now the most important thing is to protect each other, so sacrifices have to be made.

As we head towards the end of this rollercoaster of a year, the boxes are being carefully unpacked, the artwork unframed and safely stored away in the vaults of the Ralph Steadman Archive – a project for the Studio Elves to keep them busy during England’s
lockdown #2!

We’d like to thank the many, many people involved in making the exhibition such an enormous success, we just couldn’t have done it without you. Our deepest gratitude goes out to Andrea Harris who co-ordinated the beautiful installations in each venue, the staff at each venue who were so passionate and supportive, Dietl and Jayhawk who safely transported the exhibition from A to B and then onto to C, D, E and F as well. None of it would have been posssible without our sponsors, Flying Dog, United Therapeutics and Audible who gave so much more than just financial support with their advice and belief in the project.

Finally, but most importantly of all, our thanks go out to our amazing audience of Steadman fans and enthusiasts, some of whom travelled across the miles to take in multiple venues – it really has been an absolute blast! We cannot thank you all enough for your commitment, your friendship, your love and support – it means the world to Ralph and to all of us at Steadman Art 😊.

Please, please stay in touch! We’d love to see your photos and hear stories of your exhibition visits – let’s make the memories live on and carry us through… until the next time…

Until then, you can relive the exhibition by looking for the Ralph Steadman Retrospective Guide in the App Store to enjoy a digital guide to the show, voiced by Tim Robbins, Anita O’Brien and Ralph himself. And to further satisfy your cravings for a Steadman fix, the recently released Life In Ink should fit the bill nicely, available at www.foyles.co.uk
